Cause & Affect
Part One

It was a well-known fact that Jim Kirk was a hedonist. Pleasure and enjoyment were his goal and if that feeling came following the adrenaline rush of staying alive after a confrontation, then that was perfectly acceptable. Hell, being the Captain of the Enterprise sort of guaranteed the kind of life filled with running and phasers and more running, but he always came down from the high needy and aroused.

So when Jim returned from the latest away mission snapping at everyone, angry and for no real understandable reason, both his lovers had grown concerned. It was unusual for them to not be dragged to quarters by Kirk, a hand on both their sleeves until they were behind closed doors and then those hands always went south.

Bones had his ass in Medical within an hour of his return, after Spock had hunted him down in Engineering, drinking Scotty's moonshine, and dragged him there with a firm curl of fingers around one bicep. Only once did Kirk try to get away, stopped by the tightening Vulcan hand and whimpering; Spock had squeezed again just to see Jim's response – information to see if he had formed the correct conclusion – and hoped that Leonard would notice the reaction as well.

One pass of the tricorder wand over him the minute he walked into sickbay and Bones declared, “Your blood pressure's up and you're holding yourself like a goddamn tight-rope walker, but you're fine. Get in my office.”

“Bones...”

To anyone around (had there been anyone around) it might have looked like McCoy was simply checking Jim's pulse the old fashioned way, with two fingers pressed casually into his neck, but to the three men standing near the Medical Bay doors, it was a reminder as to who held the power in their relationship.

“My office, boy,” he ordered as he pulled his fingers back and Jim stumbled forward from the thrust of Spock's hand which had moved from arm to back. He recovered neatly and continued into Bones' office, but when he turned around, neither of his lovers had yet followed.

Instead, they were talking quietly to each other with McCoy's back to Jim and Spock's face giving away nothing. Jim still knew Bones wasn't going to go easy on him tonight and he truly wasn't in the mood, prepared to murmur the word he'd been given the minute they joined him.

Only, when Bones strode in with Spock on his heels, Jim couldn't bring himself to say the one word that would give him a night of respite from Bones' rough Dominance and Spock's peaceful submission.

“Knees, boy,” McCoy ordered without preamble and gave him precious few seconds to do so before sticking one hand in Jim's hair and yanking his head back. His mouth ominously closed, Bones stared down at him with a look in his eyes that spoke of waiting, of anticipation, of demanding to know what had made Jim so unlike himself.

Jim defiantly said nothing, unsurprised when Spock's hands came under his arms to lift him to his feet and Bones told him, “Best be prepared for a long night, boy.”
